“We have informed our State Attorney’s Office (SAO) staff that five members of our SAO family have tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, two who work in our Child Support Division, two who work in the Graham Building, and one who works at the Kristi House.
Our thoughts and prayers are with these employees and their families as they all confront, not just the illness itself, but the fear and apprehension this pandemic brings.
These individuals are not just our co-workers, but our friends and family members. We wish them a speedy recovery and ask all members of the SAO family to keep them in
their prayers and devotions.
All of these employees tested positive over a week after we transitioned to mission critical status, allowing them to work remotely. Accordingly, we do not know when and where
they may have been exposed to the virus.
We have minimized the number of employees working in the office or courtrooms by taking advantage of modern technologies, creating new procedures, and “going virtual.”
Attorneys now conduct pre-trial conferences, meet with witnesses and victims, and attend court remotely. Through these efforts, we have minimized potential exposure to the virus for our employees, our justice partners, the accused, and our community. We will continue to take these and all other reasonable precautions for as long as this situation
Until this pandemic passes, I urge everyone to take proper health and safety safeguards.”
