Couple Charged in Spa/Prostitution Business Arrests
Racketeering Money Laundering & Prostitution-Related Charges Filed
Miami (February 19, 2020) – As a result of a joint investigation by the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office and the Miami-Dade Police Department of a business known as “Good Massage” and advertised as Asia Massage (7337 SW 107th Avenue), 52-year-old Yaoying Lin and 52-year-old Clifford Oxios have been charged with a variety of criminal offenses including prostitution related charges, Racketeering and Money Laundering.
Law enforcement officers conducted several surveillance details of the exterior of Good Massage LLC and four separate on-site undercover operations. Observed exterior behavior was allegedly consistent with the business being used as a storefront brothel. Such investigational observations included: 1) only males entering and exiting the premises; 2) female employees walking to the business location in various plainclothes outfits, but after arriving at Good Massage LLC, they would change into revealing clothing; 3) exterior camera set up to capture the business activity for approximately one week did not observe any female customers entering or exiting the business but numerous male customers were observed entering and exiting the premises.
During the undercover (UC) operations, the UC officer would request a massage and during the massage, the female attendant would allegedly fondle the officer’s genitals and allegedly offer sexual services in exchange for additional payments. Executed search warrants and court-authorized tracking devices provided additional information and evidence including $260,000.00 in cash and bank accounts through which passed $1.5 million in cash and credit card charges over the span of the business operation.
Yaoying Lin and Clifford Oxios have each been charged with the following offenses:
- 1 count – Racketeering, 1st degree felony
- 1 count – Conspiracy to Commit Racketeering, 1st degree felony
- 1 count – Deriving Support from Proceeds of Prostitution, 2nd degree felony
- 1 count – Unlawful Use of 2-Way Communication, 3rd degree felony
- 1 count – Unlicensed Practice of Massage, 3rd degree felony
- 2 counts – Money Laundering (1 count as a 1st degree and 1 count as a 2nd degree felony)
- 7 counts – Prostitution-Related Misdemeanors
“Having a business act as an active brothel, operating in a local shopping center surrounded by merchants and families, is a serious concern for any resident of this community”, commented State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle. “I’m glad that the Miami-Dade Police and my prosecutors have been able to shut this alleged criminal enterprise down.”
“Criminal activity such as in this case, negatively affects our neighborhoods and business communities,” commented Miami-Dade Police Director Alfredo Ramirez. “I’m grateful for our partnership with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office which helps us investigate and prosecute those whose actions disrupt the quality of life of our residents and visitors.”
