To say that the aftermath of hurricane Dorian destroying much of the Bahamas is catastrophic is to understate what we see with our own eyes on TV and in the newspapers.   It is overwhelming to see how many homes and lives have been devastated by this hurricane

Like many of you, I want our Office to reach out and help as much as possible.  I am sure each of you would like to help as well.

We are working with local partners, including the Miami Fire Department to assist with relief efforts.

We have been advised that the following items are needed:

Toiletries
Diapers & Baby Wipes
Baby Formula/Food
Batteries
Cleaning Supplies
First Aid Items
Insect Repellent
Non-Perishable Food
Can Openers
Water
Leather Work Gloves
Tents
Small Generators
Tarps
*No clothing please

If you would like to donate any of the above items, we will have collection boxes in the following locations starting tomorrow (Wednesday, September 3):

Graham Building – Mail Room

Child Support Program – 15th Floor Conference Room

Children’s Courthouse – 8th Floor

Civic Park Plaza – 5th Floor (in front of Lizette Soubal’s Office)

Courthouse Center – Maria Gomez’s Office

Human Trafficking Task Force Building – Carmen Duran’s Office

David Maer, from our Community Outreach Division, will be managing our initiative to assist those affected.  As soon as we have more information on how we can help in the most significant way, we will email you the details.

I know we can make a difference.  In the meantime, please keep all those affected in your thoughts and prayers.
